Madi's Answer; assignment 2


      This is a penciled portrait of Kareena Kapoor, a young Indian actress. The artist, Nigel Frith, uses light terms like highlights, light value, medium values, shadows, and cast shadows. 

 Highlights: Pupil of the eye, lip, and rings
Light Value: Forehead, hand, and shoulder
Medium Value: Around the eyes, ears, and cheek bone
Dark Value: Hair,eyes, and eyebrows
Cast Shadow: Under Lip

    She is beautiful, such a lovely expression. Your shading is very nice, too, I like the graphic quality of the piece. I do agree with Pagnes, though, that you would be able to see a bit more of her head from this angle. And perhaps more of her ear on her left side. At the moment, her neck looks a bit too small to support her head, but it isn't bad. All in all, I think you have a really nice portrait here.
